As a freelance journalist I have written for a number of publications including local and national papers and magazines: The Galloway News, The Dumfries & Galloway Standard, The Herald, Guardian Weekly, Horse & Rider to name a few.
I’ve always combined my journalism with various writing related projects.
In 2007 I was appointed senior reporter on The Galloway News, a local paper based in Castle Douglas. An excellent community newspaper, The Galloway News provides hard news stories as well as community news, arts and entertainment and a comprehensive sports section.
In 2009 I left the ‘News’ to work as a staff writer for Dumfries & Galloway Life.
I provided freelance material for the magazine when it was under its previous name of DGBLife until I began at the ‘News’.
The magazine has been so successful in Dumfries and Galloway it is now being published monthly. With a change of name to Dumfries & Galloway Life, it will focus more on Dumfries and Galloway.
Many thanks to everyone who has said how much they enjoy reading my articles in the magazine. I’ve always loved writing for this magazine – being able to explore the region’s landscape, discover more of its history and meet so many of its talented artists and makars. I am absolutely delighted to be joining the brilliant editorial team as a reporter/features writer. So now I write for the mag every month and will be out and about across the region finding stories and meeting people.
